FAQ

Import formats, the free first analysis and what your statistics can tell you.

Is my data safe and private? →

Chat parsing and saved analyses run on your iPhone. The app also uses analytics, which can include chat names, aggregate counts and device information. Review visible names and statistics before sharing an image or video.

How do I import a chat? →

Open the contact or group info on iPhone. Choose Export Chat, then Without Media. Share the supported TXT or ZIP file with WhatStats. Check the date format before starting the analysis.

What is Chat Wrapped? →

Open the story from the overview. Navigate cards covering message counts, active people, pauses, milestones and emoji patterns. The sample story is fully unlocked. Full Wrapped for your own chats requires Pro. Playful labels describe counts and timestamp heuristics.

Why is a person missing? →

A participant needs at least one parsed message in the export to appear. Check the export’s date range and completeness; group membership alone does not add a person to the analysis.

Which platforms and formats are supported? →

WhatStats is an iPhone app. The verified path uses iPhone WhatsApp TXT or ZIP exports with supported bracketed timestamps. There is no established Android app, and Android text compatibility has not been verified.

Can I analyze a group chat? →

Yes, supported group exports can show several participants and their counts. In groups, consecutive messages from different people are not necessarily replies to each other.

What do the statistics actually measure? →

Results describe the successfully parsed messages in the imported file. Missing history affects totals. Response times and conversation endings are timestamp rules, not read receipts or evidence of feelings.

Can I share my statistics? →

Pro includes sharing a receipt as PNG and Wrapped as MP4. Check the complete output before sending it: chat names, participant names and statistics can be visible.

Can I analyze more than one chat? →

Your first analysis is free. Pro unlocks unlimited analyses, full Wrapped and sharing. See the app for current local prices. Each imported chat is analyzed separately; multiple chats in one archive are not a verified import path.

Why does a large chat take longer? →

The app needs to parse the export and calculate its statistics. Larger files take more work. Export without media and allow the analysis to finish; no fixed completion time is guaranteed.

Does the chat analysis use AI? →

The chat parser and statistics use local counting and timestamp calculations. They do not infer feelings, read receipts or relationship health from your messages.

Are WhatsApp Business exports supported? →

Compatibility has not been verified with a current WhatsApp Business export. A ZIP extension alone does not establish support. Check the timestamp format and try the first free analysis before relying on the result.
